I'm still staying busy as the principal at Mebane Middle School. But I do manage to get in some surfing at St. Augustine Beach and go backpacking in Georgia and North Carolina with my two older boys. If I don't make it, please give my best wishes to all the fellas at the beach -- you guys are like family! I feel like I could come there at any time and be right at home. Vince Rubino at rubino@centurytel.net Dear Al, Thank you so much for the photos of the reunion. Everyone looks great. For some reason I thought the reunion was going to be in August. I hope the reunions will be a regular event. Coming from Montana I need time to plan. My family has all moved away from Long Island. I have some of the greatest memories of my life working at Tobay Beach. From you and the other guards I learned a lot about how to prepare for life and how to cope with what would lie ahead for me. I started out as a concession worker on the ocean side in the summer of 1960, The summer of 61 I was hired as a guard on the bay side and one of the original bay rats. Tyler was my captain. The summer of 62 graduated from HS and selected to be an ocean guard for the next four summers. In 1966 was commissioned in the Army and spent the next 20 years on active duty. I retire in 1987. The gal who visited me at the beach from Montana in 1964 is still my wife. I would sure like to see you all again and spend some time reflecting on one of the most memorable times of my life. You may know my brother Walter died in Fla. a few years ago. (massive heart attack-he weighed over 325 lbs. when he died) You wouldn't have thunk it, but I am striped bass fishing here in the middle of Texas. Enclosed is a picture of a 28 pounder, 38" in. we pulled out last week. This lake was stocked in the mid -70's and they have flourish.ed. I have been down here in TX for over 25 yr. and contrary to belief, don't ride horses or know J.R. Ewing. Although we do have Oil wells in the middle of Lake Texoma. Got to go ........
